Melrose scrimmaged six teams at the Medway Play date Saturday, gaining valuable experience. The Lady Raiders faced some stiff competition including Westboro, Newton North, Medway, Concord Carlyle, Acton Boxboro, and Bishop Feehan. Sophomore Bella Federico filled in for another injured player and played her way onto the varsity with a strong showing.
Melrose hosts North Andover Tuesday at the Middle School gym at 4:30 for a scrimmage.
Here is the 2014 schedule with some great competition, especially in the non-league slate, which will see Newton North, Ursuline, Central, and Westboro come to Melrose and Melrose travel to defending state champion Notre Dame Academy. Home games feature the varsity second.
