The Boston Globe has a volleyball preview.

Girls’ volleyball

Melrose 3, Arlington Catholic 0 — Junior Allie Nolan had six kills and 21 assists, and freshman Victoria Crovo had eight kills in her first varsity match.

Don Norris captures the essence of last night's home opener. I'm going a little lighter on captions this season. You often must click the image to see the whole frame.

First-year player Marissa Cataldo digs one out.

Melrose made some trips to "Block City"

Hey, Abbott!

Cat Torpey (21) is Melrose's other freshman. Cat had three kills in her third set debut, including the set clincher. Expect those to be the first of many.

Hannah Mulcahy (11) had a pair of third set kills and blocks. Another first year player looking to make an impact as a sophomore.

They're not saying "boo", they're saying "Drew"
