Google is great, but it won't necessarily steer you in the right direction to participate in Melrose volleyball. What makes Melrose volleyball tick? I think it's a combination of three C's - culture, communication, and community...with a big dose of commitment.
Culture comes from the coaching staff, led by Hall of Fame Coach Scott Celli and highly capable assistant Steve Wall. Former Melrose star Andrea Basteri isn't as visible but does great work with the freshmen. The culture of success extends throughout the year. At the core are the central tenets of John Wooden's Pyramid of Success: skill building, conditioning, and team spirit.

Communication comes from many sources but especially from the coaching staff, setting expectations and defining roles. Public communication comes from Lady Raider broadcasts on MMTV (Jeff Mate' is the driving force there), from local newspapers such as the Melrose Weekly (Sports Editor, Jen Gentile) and the Melrose Free Press.
Community program infrastructure comes from multiple sources, including summer youth instructional camps, from the Middle School volleyball program, and from area volleyball programs. Investigate which may be right for you.

Aside from the coaches, those most responsible for the growth, development, and improvement of Melrose volleyball are the players and their families. They can provide the best information of how to participate and catch the spirit.
